Kesha performed her new single Woman for the first time live and the popstar was filled with so much emotion that she shed a few tears over it. The track has been described as her ‘comeback track’. Kesha performed in the Stir Cove in lowa on 20 July and had this to say at the event:
“It’s been so long since I got to perform new music. We’re gonna probably [perform it]. Here’s the thing: It could suck,” she said when introducing the song, before she starting to cry tears of happiness.
Kesha has since released Praying, a powerful ballad referencing her alleged abuser Dr. Luke indirectly. Kesha made a speech in 2016 that detailed her struggle to come back after being broken down:
“I really think this person thought I’d just lay down and take it and I would just sit around waiting to die and just give up on my music and give up on my fans and I’m not.”
“I just want you to know that that somebody f**ked with the wrong woman. I’m fighting like f**k to give you this music, so please don’t give up on me.”
