Kim Kardashian recently revealed her first promotional image for KKW Beauty on her social media sites. In the photo Kim is heavily tanned and bronzed, some have stretched and have accused her of ‘wearing blackface’. Kim addressed the controversy directly in an interview with The New York Times.

“I used an amazing photographer [Ben Hasset] and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.”
She didn’t dismiss the unintentional offense and went on to note that they have changed the rest of the photos.
The reality star will launch KKW Beauty 21 June 2017 with the Crème Contour and Highlight Kit. The kit includes a contour stick, a highlighter stick and a brush/sponge. It will be sold exclusively on her website—in four shades—for $48 each. Notably, Kim shares a manufacturer with her famous sister Kylie Jenner.
