Disney Channel South Africa announces the South African premiere of Austin & Ally

Opposites rock in the brand new Disney Channel Original series, Austin & Ally, a live-action comedy series about the friendship of an unlikely duo whose lives take an unexpected turn for the better when one becomes an overnight musical sensation.  The series is set to make its South African television premiere on 28 April at 09:35 on Disney Channel.

Austin & Ally hit all the right notes when it premiered in the U.S. in December 2011 and has since soared to become U.S. television’s #1 series in its timeslot amongst kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14 and cable’s #1 series in total viewers.*  Filled with tales of singing, songwriting and the adventures of trying to achieve one’s dreams, the series follows the unique relationship between polar opposites – the fun loving Austin, an extroverted musician/singer, and Ally, a brilliant but shy songwriter and their two best friends, Trish and Dez.

Austin and Dez secretly borrow one of Ally’s songs, record it, create a video and post it on the internet which leads to Austin becoming a celebrity sensation overnight.  Best friend Trish tries to convince Ally to tell the world that she wrote the song, but Austin pleads for her to write another hit record for him.  Instead, Austin and Ally combine their talents in an attempt to create a true musical tour-de-force.

Newcomer Ross Lynch stars as Austin with actress Laura Marano (Without a Trace) as Ally, Raini Rodriguez (I’m in the Band) as Trish and Calum Worthy (Good Luck Charlie) as Dez.
