By Karen Hockney
Before becoming one of the hottest teen stars on both sides of the Atlantic, Spencer Boldman wowed his school in productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Grease. Here is a host of other interesting facts you may not know about the 19-year-old actor, who stars as bionic super teen Adam in Disney XD’s Lab Rats.
When was the last time you were star struck?
I was invited to the Avengers premiere and saw Robert Downey Junior and Scarlett Johansson, who I love. She is beautiful. There was a premiere for In the Land of Blood and Honey last year and it was Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut. She is one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever seen in person, besides my mum of course! I wasn’t so much star struck but very impressed. Brad Pitt was there too.
What’s the best decision you’ve ever made?
As a teenager I try and live my life in a way that makes the people that I love proud. Staying true to who you are and having a standard is really important. I try to live my life that way. I act much older than I am. I love traveling, experiencing different cultures. It’s my choice to be mature and not fall into what most teenagers fall into. I like to stay pretty focused, enjoy my work and have fun.
What would surprise people to know about you?
I took French in High School. My character Adam in Lab Rats is not very smart so when people meet me in real life they expect me to be like him. I like to think they find me more knowledgeable than they expect me to be.
What’s your biggest fear?
I’m really afraid of heights. I’m fine on a plane but I would not like to be at the top of the Eiffel Tower. My knees go weak.
What’s your best tip for staying in a good mood?
Being around people I love and people that are positive helps. I try and surround myself with people like that at work. I like being happy so I like people with a good attitude around me. When people are negative, I try to not surround myself with them.
What’s next for you?
There is a couple of films that I’m in talks for now that will be filming in Kaui, Hawaii. I’m doing a lot of promotion for Disney at the moment which keeps me pretty busy and then we will be starting a second season of Lab Rats later this year.
If you possessed superhuman powers what would you use them for?
There are a lot of homeless people in Los Angeles so I would try and help for the greater good, whether it was creating controlled fires to keep them warm or cooking food. I might also use them for impressing the ladies – they like superhuman strength.
Who has the messiest dressing room on Lab Rats?
Evidently mine was the messiest. When we moved out after season one they had to clean mine the most. I need to get my mum to help me, although she would tell me to do it myself!
