Healthy on the inside = healthy on the outside

The healthier you are, the better you feel. There is nothing like waking up every morning feeling great and fresh. We are all still so young and lifestyle changes that we make now can and will benefit us for many years to come.

Eating healthy and living an active lifestyle is not just about looking better on Instagram and Snapchat, although the healthier you are, the better you will look. Being healthier helps build confidence, exercise discipline and makes us feel better and more in control every single day. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying hire a personal trainer and chow like a body builder…We are still young and can break the healthy living rules every so often, but living an active and healthy life is all about finding a balance.

As with all big tasks, it’s best to break them down into small manageable chunks. This can start with some very small and easy things, like going for a walk around the block everyday or speaking to your parents about starting a gym membership. Or perhaps when you go out to eat you don’t choose the worst thing on the menu, but instead find good tasty alternatives for unhealthy foods; such as sweet potato chips instead of normal chips and plain grilled foods instead of oily foods. It’s also advisable to drink tons of water and finding an hobby that is active makes motivation a thousand times easier than trying to motivate yourself to go to the gym and run mindlessly on the treadmill.

I make conscious choices to live an active lifestyle. I go grocery shopping with my family and pick out healthy foods and come home to make a nice clean eating meal. I do yoga in my living room and go to gym everyday with my best friend. I am a horse rider and am always going out to the stables with my mom and riding a couple of horses five to six times a week. And I drink lots of water!

There are many people on Instagram who show some quick and fun ways to get your heart rate up and they also give some quick and easy recipes for balanced meals. One of my favourite accounts is @kayla_itsines. She is a personal trainer and gives the best advice and writes motivational posts!

These are a few tips to feel great! If you’re healthy on the inside, you’ll look healthy on the outside.
