What’s the show about?
In this music-filled comedy, Tripp Campbell joins his favorite “vintage” rock band, Iron Weasel, and is determined to help the band he idolises make an epic comeback. He’s certainly got his work cut out for him with the trio of rock star misfits whose stars have fallen so far that they can’t even afford their own housing and are forced to share bunk beds in a guest room at Tripp’s house. Nonetheless, in their own off the wall way, the three stooges will do their best to help Tripp steer through his teenage years with the goal of turning him into a bona fide rock star and giving him the chance to live out his dream
Tripp Campbell: Logan Miller
Are you a fan of metal bands yourself, and if so which ones?
“Yes! In seventh grade that was my eighties year where I listened to bands like Whitesnake, Motorhead, Rat Poison, Metallica… I don’t know where it came from but as soon as I found it I knew instantly that it was my music. It was something I loved as a kid so its great to be able to bring it back.”
Tripp is an astute problem solver – are you also good at coming up with solutions to problems?
“I’m probably not the one to say, ‘Hey guys I think we should do this’. I’m much more, ‘Whatever’, so we’re very different in that aspect. He’s so driven as a rock star and he’s the brains behind every situation.”
What do you like to do to relax?
I love photography and I got a film camera for my birthday last year. It’s just whatever I think looks cool – people, places… I also love hanging out with my friends, going to a movie or a gig. I’m always playing guitar, or writing something – I like to keep busy.”
What’s the best thing about being in I’m In The Band?
“We’re always screwing around and trying to make each other laugh. It’s great as often it’ll help us come up with funny things we can add into the script.”
Ash: Steve Valentine
What can South African viewers look forward to on I’m In The Band, now that Disney XD is coming to South Africa?
“You need to look forward to crazy slapstick comedy. It’s just a really funny show. The jokes keep coming at you ratatatat, and you can sit back, watch it and have a good time.”
Are you really a magician?
“Yes, I’ve been learning magic ever since I was a kind and my mum bought me my first magic set. Yeah, I always wanted to act and do magic and its weird that now I get to do both.”
Can you really speak Spanish and Japanese?
“I did on the show but it was a nightmare. They gave me this really long Spanish phrase to learn in front of a live audience so I had to get the crowd to help me out with the pronounciation. That helped to get them on my side so they cheered when I got it right. So I can’t speak Spanish or Japanese but I am fluent in Serbian.”
What’s your best personality trait?
“I think I have a good sense of humour and I really like meeting people.”
