What you name your child could determine what they earn one day

Research has show that what you choose to name your child may have an impact on their future success. It can be a difficult decision for the parent to make as it is, but now it seems that there is even more riding on the decision! Research shows that people with certain names earn more money in their careers.

The Knowledge Academy has used British recruitment company, Adzuna’s ValueMyCv Tool to conduct the research. Data has been taken from over 500,000 CVs uploaded to the website, including first names and salaries. It appears that Oscar tops the list for boys, and they are expected to earn the largest average salary – R640,000. George is a close second at R633,000 followed by Oliver at R602,000.

When it comes to the girls, Lily tops the list at R522,000. Isabella is up next at R490,0000 and then Ella at R485,000. The names that were on the other side of the scale were Jack, Jacob, Muhammad, Olivia, Jessica and Mia, who are set to earn the least.

One thing we also didn’t miss when looking at this particular source is the salary gap between genders…But that’s a different story entirely.
