A former member, Kaya Jones, of the all girl band Pussycat Dolls has alleged that the group was “a prostitution ring”. Kaya was a member of the group from 2003-2005 when they were signed to the record company, Interscope Geffen. The founder of the band, Robin Antin, has slammed the claims and has branded them as “disgusting, ridiculous lies.”
Pussycat Dolls previously existed as a burlesque performance group before being transformed into a music product. The band is best known for consisting of key member Nicole Scherzinger. Kaya took to Twitter and claimed she had suffered abuse during her time in the band:
“My truth. I wasn’t in a girl group. I was in a prostitution& we happened to sing & be famous. While everyone who owned us made the $. How bad was it? People ask-bad enough that I walked away from my dreams, bandmates &a 13 million dollar record deal. We knew we were going to#1. To be apart of the team you must be a team player. Meaning sleep with whoever they you dont they have nothing on you to leverage. Why don’t we report it? Because we are all abused! I personally have been warned if I tell I will … you know end up dead or no more career.”
Further comments from Kaya regarding Robin suggest that he was responsible for the suicide of G.R.L girl band member Simone Battle who took her life in September 2014 following being in the band (formed by Robin) for two years:
“I want the den mother from hell to confess why another 1 of her girl group girls committed suicide? Tell the public how you mentally broke us,” Kaya had written via twitter.
