Most of the internet took to social media to congratulate Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after they announced their engagement yesterday. The news is a cause for celebration for most but as always a few rotten apples made an appearance. Prince Harry has been forced in the past to defend Meghan from cyberbullies but now others are jumping to her defense as well!
Some are using the happy announcement as a means to wrongfully point out Meghan’s previous relationship status and her race, which Twitter isn’t taking kindly to. In the wake of some racist pushback and news coverage that emphasizes her race, past marriage, and the fact that she is American, many are already rushing to Meghan’s defense, insisting that outlets change the tone of their coverage.
You know, the one that took a helluva a lot of crap for not being 'this' or 'that' enough, and now her son is bringing in a WoC — gonna one up on that! Fantastic.

What a fucking racist article. Apparently Meghan isn't a person, unlike royal brides before her, she's just a race.
Shame on you @BBCNews

People angry at Harry and Meghan’s engagement will be appalled discover Queen Charlotte, wife of George III may have also been black. True story lol. https://t.co/I2fMuShR81
