Teenzone attended the anticipated Skarlaken Album Launch on 8 March 2017 at the Centurion Theatre. We were warmly welcomed and kindly directed to our seats. Although we had heard their music before, the live performance took their sound to new levels.
Skarlaken is a South African duo whose New Country (Country/Pop) sound has traveled as far as the USA. The duo consists of Fredric Dacomb and Tanya Jansen. They lived up to their promises of offering a dynamic sound to their listeners. They performed a number of songs from their album. The album caters to both English and Afrikaans listeners – a little something for everybody.
If you haven’t heard of them yet it’s because they only started performing as a duo in June 2016. Their success so far is not because of luck. Endless hours go into preparation and it also helps that they have a creative team behind them. Skarlaken performed vocal brilliance with their band and were also accompanied by their producer Johan Kelber. Their band consists of guitarist Ammiel Kelber, bassist Jandre Reyneke and drummer Marno van der Merwe. The only member of team not seen on stage was songwriter Lientjie Sothman.
