Stand collapses at Linkin Park Concert in Cape Town

According to website an advertising tower, erected by the advertiser, collapsed onto the temporary stands built for the Linkin Park concert. It is reported by the security guards on site that Cape Town’s strong southeast winds caused the tower to topple over.

10 000 people were in that area, unfortunately 19 people were injured and 1 person lost their life.

Linkin Park issued a statement today:

“Following our performance tonight at Cape Town Stadium, we were advised that several people were injured as a result of the collapse of an advertising tower erected by Lucozade in the parking area outside the venue. We wish to express our deep sadness and concern for those injured and our heartfelt condolences to the family of the fan who died as a result of her injuries.”
