The Colin Kaepernick’s Nike Ad Made Increased The Brand’s Market Value By $6 Billion

After the Nike’s decision to select former NFL player and controversial activist, Colin Kaepernick, to appear as the face of its latest global campaign caused controversy online, its been reported that Nike’s market value actually surged by nearly $6 billion since the athletic brand debuted its 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign staring Colin on Labor Day.

At first the campaign caused Nike’s stock to sink more than 3 percent, according to Yahoo Lifestyle because some conservatives did not condone the former NFL player kneeling before the flag in protest of police brutality and other forms of racial injustice. Some even burned their Nike apparel and shoes pubic-ally via social tweeted that the campaign delivered a “terrible message” and anticipated the brand’s fall but CBS News reported Nike shares have surged 36 percent this year, experiencing a nearly 5 percent increase just this month alone. The brand has also sold out of 61% more merchandise since releasing the ad which marks this as an all-time high for Nike’s market value.
