What are pimples?
Pimples are pointed elevations on the skin that, in most cases, contain pus. Technically, pimples are caused by infection, irritation, or over activity of the sebaceous and sweat glands.
How do they form?
Pimples form when the pores in the skin become clogged.
Are pimples normal?
Yes, 80% of people aged between 12 and 32 will have pimple break outs.
What NOT to do?
Squeezing is a big No-No! And believe it or not, excessive cleansing of the skin, picking at pimples or covering up with make-up such as foundation, can worsen the situation by clogging the follicles, creating scars or spreading the infections.
What TO do?
Drink 8 glasses of water a day. Be sure to include important nutrients, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in your diet. These will help your body to fight infections more aggressively and speed up the healing process. Vitamins C and E are great for the skin. Products which contain Benzoyl Peroxide have been shown to have the best effect on pimples.
