Vodacom’s data disaster


Vodacom is a topic trending on almost all social media sites. If you find yourself out of the loop regarding the Vodacom data disaster, this is what you need to know about it.

Customers kept complaining that their data kept disappearing and now it’s clear they weren’t imagining it. Unfortunately, it had to take some high profile public figures complaining before Vodacom decided to do something about it. Some of the people who took to social media were Advocate Thuli Madonsela and renowned journalist Redi Tlhabi.

Vodacom assured that it’s technicians were working at resolving the problem. A series of tweets from the company says that there was a technical error on Monday night which made customers unable to use data bundles. An inquiry has also been launched into the high cost of data in the country.

The service provider has also made the statement that they will be reimbursing customers for their lost data:

“We are currently reimbursing customers affected by last night’s billing issues and will ensure that all related out-of-bundle charges are refunded and depleted bundles are reinstated. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.”
