Last year, Teenzone was honoured to attend Brooklyn Primary School’s Nelson Mandela Day event. Students and teachers alike participated in knitting blanket squares in preparation for Nelson Mandela Day. Those that were not able to knit blanket squares donated store-bought blankets.
This year around, the students and teachers of Brooklyn Primary collected tinned food for the Hervormde Kerk Wapadrand and in addition, to the Tshwane SPCA. The recipients of the two organisations elaborated on how grateful they were to receive the donation. They assured all that their donations would be used for a good cause. The editor of Teenzone spoke on behalf of the magazine, stressing that it’s ‘Cool to be Kind’, congratulating them on their successful accumulation of goods.
The assembly highlighting the achievement ended off fittingly; the students and teachers all rose to sing the National Anthem.
Once again, we would like to stress the importance of such acts of kindness.
