Explore more this summer! The long break that is anticipated and most of the times planned in advance is here -December holidays. If you happen to be going on holiday this year, enjoy it, and do not forget to take some pics, however if you are stuck at home this summer, and your sense of adventure is bubbling within you, then here are a few things you can do:
You could plan a day to Gold Reef City (https://www.tsogosun.com/gold-reef-city-casino/theme-park). There you will find, roller coasters, carnival games, a 4D theater, you might even fancy a round of putt-putt. The adventure is waiting to be had. However if fast things are not your thing and you would prefer a slower paced adventure, the Apartheid Museum is just across the Gold Reef City parking lot. There you might learn a thing or two, as well as understand a little more about this country, called South Africa.
Some other things you could do, is watch the sunset from Northcliff Ridge Eco Park (http://www.northcliffecopark.org), visit the zoo, or the Voortrekker Monument (http://www.vtm.org.za). Take a tour of Constitution Hill (https://www.constitutionhill.org.za), maybe even go to the Sci-Bono Museum (http://www.sci-bono.com). You could also visit one of the many gardens in Joburg or Pretoria, and have a picnic with your family or friends.
Spend a day at Ratanga Junction (http://www.ratanga.co.za). Which is an amusement park, and if you happen to go on a calm day, then you may even want to ride the slingshot. But again if amusement parks are not your thing then you could visit the District 6 Museum (http://www.districtsix.co.za), or the Planetarium. However if you want to do a water activity but you don’t know what to do, why not try stand up paddleboarding (http://supcapetown.co.za/sup-basic-rental)?
Some other things you could do, is maybe plan a day trip to Simon’s Town, and stop at Muizenburg on your way. Take a walk around the V&A Waterfront, as well as visit the Two Oceans Aquarium (http://www.aquarium.co.za). Or simply spend the day at one of the many beaches the Cape has to offer.
Here you can find a lot of adventure under one roof, as Gateway Theatre of Shopping (http://www.gatewayworld.co.za) has an arcade, a go kart track, a putt-putt course, a bowling alley, and a sports arena. There’s also a range of shops, where you can buy Christmas presents.
Though if a shopping centre is not your ideal hangout, then there are a range of beaches where you could spend the day, and if you would like to do something a little more exciting, then maybe you should visit uShaka Marine World (http://www.ushakamarineworld.co.za), where there is a water park with loads of rides, as well as other activities.
If none of the above adventures are for you, then maybe you could mall hop, and do some summer shopping. Plan an outing to your favourite restaurant. Maybe visit an art gallery. Go on a photowalk. Organize a pool party, or a pamper day. Go on a nice hike, or visit a different city. It’s December and the possibilities are endless, but remember, whatever you decide to do, stay safe doing it!
