Fans have lashed out at concert-cancelling Adele, claiming her damaged vocal chords are the result of adding extra, last minute, gigs to her tour.
Up to 100,000 fans were crushed when the south London singer announced she was scrapping this weekend’s show because of damaged vocal chords.
In a lengthy statement Adele insisted she was heartbroken.
Although many fans were sympathetic to the 29-year-old mum-of-one, others were left fuming about being left out of pocket after booking travel and hotels.
A small fraction thought it was unfair that fans who snapped up last minute gigs got to go, rather than those who booked last year to see this weekend’s concert.
One fuming Twitter user, who had booked in December, wrote: “She added more dates…all before tonight’s gig…Can’t help but feel cheated that she wouldn’t have strained her voice and we would’ve seen her.”
“The added dates got to see her and we didn’t. Just gutted she won’t be touring anymore. Hey ho my son has a life lesson in disappointment. Just hope we get all money back from travel arrangements xx
“‘I am gutted and so is my five-year-old boy who has been so excited since Christmas day when receiving his ticket! Obviously we love Adele and want her to recover…but can’t help but feel a massive let down when we bought the tickets when she first released them”
The singer – who had surgery to remove a benign polyp from her throat in 2011 – was due to perform to a sell-out crowd at Wembley Stadium last night and today.
Fan Anne Crocker wrote: “She has been rather greedy and rather over rated. Boring songs which she shouts out…no wonder her voice broke…let’s hope she gives up some of her cash for a worthy charitable cause and refunds money appropriately.”
