There is no denying that Katy Perry is a talented singer and performer, but if you had to look at the little to no success of her last album, Witness, you wouldn’t think that she has produced hit after hit in previous years. However, her Capitol Records head honcho Steve Barnett revealed that Katy has plans to climb the charts and get back into good graces with the public. Steve told Variety:
“I love her and have forged a great relationship with her. I talk about how engagement is so important and I don’t believe you can have big cycles between projects [as Katy did]. I think that’s changed. And so you sit down and have tough conversations with her and management. As successful as you’ve been, you learn.”
Katy’s three Witness singles included the Skip Marley-assisted “Chained to the Rhythm,” “Bon Appétit” featuring Migos and “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj. The LP managed to sell 840,000 copies, which is an entirely respectable figure it, however, just doesn’t live up to the success of her other albums such as Teenage Dream and Prism. She’s currently in the middle of her world tour in support of Witness.
