Here at TZ we have a little bit of a music crush – no, a massive music crush. Marie Davidson was a new discovery for us in the office this week, and boy, do we wish we’d found her years ago.
Marie Davidson is a French-Canadian singer, poet and electronic musician. Her last album Adieux au Dancefloor was named by Pitchfork as on “The 20 best electronic albums of 2016” and on the 5th of October she released her new album Working Class Woman. If you want to know what you’re in for check out “Work It” (and then write to us to tell us how right we were about her!) Essentially she’s epic, and if you are looking for club vibes this weekend you NEED to hear her.
The sound is seriously experimental and out-there, and you need to have an appreciation of electro in order to really get into it, but for those of you looking for a new electro addiction – Marie Davidson is for you. We are predominantly stuck in the last two albums, but she has a extensive back-catalogue for those of you who can’t get enough.
