A tweet from Barack Obama quoting Nelson Mandela has officially become the most liked tweet in history. The post was a response to the white nationalists rally in Charlottesville. In a series of three tweets Obama conveys the following quote:
“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his background or his religion.
“People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
The first tweet amassed over 1.5 million retweets, while Obama’s follow-up second and third posts garnered more than 300,000 retweets each.
A car driven by a right-wing extremist ploughed through a crowd of anti-fascist protesters in Charlottesville on Saturday, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer, a paralegal and activist.
