Shure Drum Mastery Drumming Competition at A.V.A Expo

Amateur drummers – stand a chance to win €5,000 of Shure equipment and a trip to Iceland – all at the A.V.A Expo!

Shure has launched the first Shure Drum Mastery Competition which is currently running in 20 Countries across the globe. Shure is looking for the best amateur drummer to receive this prestigious accolade and to win a trip to Reykjavik, Iceland where 5 finalists will then battle against each other in front of a live club audience.

The 5 finalists will be determined by a panel of prestigious judges who will choose from a shortlist determined by votes on the website,  All 5 finalists will be flown to Iceland in March where they will receive a one day drum masterclass with Darren Ashford and will spend some time with a Shure sound engineer to learn miking techniques and tips.

So how do you enter? First, visit to download the track and the entry form.  Prepare your set and master the track by giving it your own personal style and get ready to give it your all at the A.V.A Expo at the Sandton Convention Centre from Nov 10th -13th where Shure, along with The Music Emporium, has created a special drumming booth where you can play along to the track whilst being filmed. You can book your set at the A.V.A Expo in advance simply call Carmin on 073 170 6665.  You will receive your video on disc and then simply upload your video to the site and then make sure all your friends and fans vote for you – and you could be on your way to Iceland!

The winner will be chosen by the final vote of the live audience and will receive a voucher worth €5000 to spend on Shure audio gear.

The competition runs on-line until Dec 16th.  To get a professionally filmed version of your performance, you NEED to get to the A.V.A Expo from Nov 10th – 13th. The competition is open only to AMATEUR drummers, meaning you don’t make a living from playing the drums. The 5 finalists also must be OVER 20 years of age due to legal restrictions in Iceland.
