Taylor Swift appeared in court 8 August as she continues her legal battle against DJ David Mueller. Mueller was fired from his job at 98.5 KYGO radio after Swift claimed that he reached up under her skirt and groped her all while she was taking a photo alongside him back in 2013. Mueller filed a law-suit against her after his dismissal and she returned the favour with a lawsuit of her own, a sexual assault lawsuit.
The trial began on Monday. Both Swift and Mueller appeared at court for the jury selection process. Today, Swift attended court alongside her mother, Andrea Swift. Swift and Mueller’s lawyers both delivered their opening statements today.
Mueller’s attorney spoke first, vehemently denying the sexual assault allegations. Swift’s attorney fired back noting that the singer is “taking a stand for all women” as this is a “case of sexual assault in the work place.” He continued:
“A woman is assaulted. She reports it and she gets sued…it doesn’t make sense. She’s trying to tell people out there that you can say no when someone grabs you no matter who they are.”
Mueller took the stand first elaborating about landing his dream job as a DJ and losing the position because of false claims from Taylor. When asked if he filed the law suit for financial gain, he dismissed the motion with disgust.
